FAQs: Library Cards
Library cards are free to Minnesota residents.
If you lose your card or if it is stolen, you will need to pay $1 for a replacement.
Information on how to apply for your free library card can be found at the "Get/Renew a Card" page.
Library cards from out-of-state cannot be used at Great River Regional Library. However, a non-resident card may be purchased (borrower limits may apply). This card is valid for three months and costs $7.50. The card may be renewed for three month increments with additional fees of $7.50 per renewal.
You can use your eCard for online access to digital materials (digital library & databases). You may upgrade to a full access card at any time by visiting one of our staffed locations and providing proof of identity and address.
It's easy to renew your library card! You can
- Stop in at any Great River Regional Library location,
- Use the online renewal form (include your full barcode without spaces),
- Call your local library.
Renewing your library card is free, although adult patrons must pay any fines/fees in full before renewing their cards
Please use the Library Card Renewal/Update form. Staff will update the account as soon as possible.
You can also update information on your account in person at any Great River Regional Library. Some updates can be made over the phone or by using the online contact form.
Legal name changes should be completed in-person at one of our staffed locations. Please bring valid identity card or similar document for legal name changes.
