Can I use a card from another Minnesota library to check out library materials?

If you have a Great River River Regional Library card, it can be used at any of our 33 locations to check out physical items and access many of GRRL's digital resources.

If your card is from a Minnesota public library outside of Great River Regional Library, in most cases we can accept your card as a reciprocal borrower. Many Minnesota public libraries are part of regional systems - groups of libraries that have agreed to share resources among themselves and other regional systems - and will accept cards from other Minnesota regional systems.

To register as a reciprocal borrower, go in-person to any of our 32 staffed library locations. Please bring your Minnesota library card. If you are 17 years of age or older, you also need to bring a form of photo identification and your current address information, such as a driver's license or another form of photo ID with an official proof of address (i.e. a bill, check, or tax form). An application form can be printed and filled out ahead of time from the "Get/Renew a Card" button at the top of this page.

Please note: reciprocal borrowers are not able to apply for eCards and are not able to access some of the materials in the GRRL digital library, such as the OverDrive and Hoopla online catalogs and some databases.
