FAQs: Fines & Fees

What are the fines for overdue materials?

GRRL does not charge overdue fines on children's and young adult materials, although fines accrued before June 3, 2019 may still apply.

Replacement costs for damaged items and those set to lost will be charged to all patron accounts. In order to avoid having items automatically set to lost, they must be returned within 45 days of the due date. If lost items are returned in good condition, replacement costs may be removed.

Books: Books loan for three weeks (21 days). Overdue charge will be 25 cents/day.

Why does Great River Regional Library use a collection agency?

Great River Regional Library uses a collection agency, Unique Management Services, in order to recover materials and fees. The main goal of using the collection agency is to remind patrons of their overdue items and encourage returning them. If an account has a balance of $25 or more for 30 days, the account will be sent to the collection agency and a $10 fee added to the account. Collection agency fees may not be waived.

Parents or guardians are responsible for the accounts of their minor children.
