- GoTeenWriters.com - A writing community that provides a vast amount of tips and advice for writing and editing your story. No longer a weekly blog, but has an extensive archive.
- NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a challenge to write a novel in a month and has grown into a large writing community. You can get take advantage of new resources specifically for teens and join the Young Writer's Program.
- Write The World - Offers a list of competitions, workshops, and other writing resources.
Editing
Resources:
- GoTeenWriters Edit Your Novel - Provides 13 free, downloadable PDFs on a variety editing resources ranging from self-editing checklists to character archetypes.
- Jill Williamson - Co-creator of GoTeenWriter's has a writer's resource section on her website.
Formatting
Resources:
- Manuscript formatting - Shows how to setup the standard manuscript format commonly used when submitting to agents, publishers, and literary magazines.
- How to Format a Book - Goes through the steps of formatting a novel beyond the page preparation at the manuscript level.
Other Types of Formatting (Academic):
- APA formatting - American Psychological Association (APA) formatting is commonly used for sciences and education citation.
- MLA formatting - Modern Language Association (MLA) formatting is commonly used for the humanities (languages and literary study)
