Interlibrary Loan
If you can't find what you're looking for in the Great River Regional Library catalog, we can often borrow older materials for you through Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
Please check the Great River Regional Library catalog before placing an ILL request.
Once you have searched the catalog and determine that your selection is not owned by GRRL, you have two options depending on the publication/release date of the item you are requesting.
For items published or released within the past 3 years:
Use our Suggest a Title service to request a title to be purchased for the collection. If your title is not selected for purchase, we will try to obtain it for you through interlibrary loan.
For items published or released more than 3 years ago:
Search MNLINK and place an interlibrary loan request. MNLINK is a statewide service for requesting materials such as books, CDs, DVDs and more from academic and public libraries throughout Minnesota. Once a request is filled, it will be delivered to your Great River Regional Library location. If we cannot get your item through MNLINK, we will attempt to locate it through a national search on WorldCat.
Not all items in MNLINK are available through interlibrary loan.
- Some libraries have lending restrictions that may prevent a request from being filled.
- MNLINK Interlibrary Loan requests are only filled when the item is on the shelf at one of our MNLINK partner libraries. You may be notified if the title is not available through MNLINK. New items are generally in use at their home library.
- Digital materials such as eBooks and eAudiobooks are generally unavailable through interlibrary loan services due to licensing restrictions. Place a Title Suggestion instead and GRRL will consider purchasing that title.
- Titles with recent publication dates, including DVDs released within the past year, are not available via interlibrary loan. Place a Title Suggestion instead and GRRL will consider purchasing that title.
Additional Information:
- Your GRRL library card needs to be in good standing in order to request materials through interlibrary loan.
- You may have up to 25 active requests on MNLINK including titles being ordered, checked out or returned.
- Interlibrary Loan items generally may not be renewed as the lending library sets the due date.
-
If you claim to have returned an interlibrary loan item, charges will still be assessed as GRRL is required to pay the lending library.
If you can't find your item in the GRRL catalog or MNLINK, please fill out a Suggest a Title form and let us try to find it for you.
