One Card, Endless Possibilities: Celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month this September
This September, Great River Regional Library invites you to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month and discover how a single card can open the door to endless opportunities.
With a library card, you can do more than check out books. From free classes and job resources to homework help, streaming media, and cultural events, today’s libraries connect communities to information, inspiration, and each other.
This year’s theme, “One Card, Endless Possibilities,” is a reminder that libraries are for everyone—no matter your age, background, or goals. Whether you're diving into a new hobby, searching for your next great read, brushing up on tech skills, or helping your child succeed in school, it all starts with a library card.
At the Great River Regional Library, you’ll find:
- Reading the way you like with books, magazines, newspapers, ebooks, and audiobooks.
- Try It Yourself Kits, including telescopes, Frisbee golf, ukuleles, and more!
- Programs and events for all ages—from storytimes and book clubs to job search support and tech help.
Getting a library card is free, easy, and empowering. For students, it’s a key to academic success. For adults, it’s a gateway to lifelong learning. For everyone, it’s a smart way to stay connected to your community.
Join us throughout September for special Library Card Sign-Up Month activities, including:
- Race to the Library – Students are challenged to see how many visits their school can make to the libraries in Buffalo, Annandale, & Kimball throughout the month of September.
- Books for Babies – Start a library card account for your newborn (age 0-12 months) at the Upsala Public Library in September and receive a FREE book of nursery rhymes. Sponsored by the Friends of the Upsala Public Library.
- Storytime – Help children discover the joy of reading through our Tiny Tots Play, Toddler and Preschoolers Play & Learn Workshops, and Family Storytime series. See upcoming program dates and times by visiting events.griver.org.
Stop by one of the Great River Regional Library system’s 32 public libraries or visit us online at griver.org to sign up for your card today. Because with a library card, the possibilities are truly endless.
