Subject:  Great River Regional Library Board Reaffirms Core Values

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (August 21, 2020) – Great River Regional Library (GRRL) Board of Trustees reaffirms GRRL core values.

Many know the Great Regional Library as a place to check out books, attend storytimes, and come together as a community. But, what is the library's mission and core values? The Board of the library system recently reaffirmed GRRL's core values of exceptional service, forward thinking, and community focus. They acknowledged the library as a place of an inclusive community embracing diversity.

GRRL is a patron-centered organization and strongly commit to our values:

Exceptional service means that we commit to providing free and equal access to information, operate with respect for all, and appreciate our opportunity to serve, speak and act with honesty and integrity. We are empowered and knowledgeable staff. A recent innovation that displays this value is working with community partners and cities to provide wifi hotspots (GRRL's WiFi2Go service) and expand wifi accessibilities at our libraries.

Forward thinking means that we commit to anticipate future service needs, promote lifelong learning, are responsive to a changing world, and will build on past successes. We explore innovation and new ideas. We challenge ourselves to always do better. A recent innovation that displays this value is our Summer Reading Program that went virtual this past summer. By holding the program online, we could meet the needs of our children and adjust to the changing world.

Community focus means that we commit to building trust with one another and operate as a team, communicate openly, and create partnerships throughout the communities that we serve to promote our libraries and services. We are inclusive and embrace diversity. A recent innovation that displays this expanding our collections to diverse authors, illustrators, and editors.

Everyday GRRL staff commit to and are mindful of our core values. We acknowledge that we are a fundamental organization where people in our communities can find and use trusted information they need to thrive.
