Outside, the weather was hot and sweltering, but inside the Little Falls Carnegie Library patrons were having a cool, fun time. Thursday, July 21 was movie night at the library, and a crowd of 39 individuals enjoyed Disney's "Zootopia." Movie Nights are sponsored by the Friends of the Little Falls library who provide the sound video equipment as well as movie theater style, fresh, kettle-popped corn. The next and final Movie Night of the summer in Little Falls will be Thursday, Aug. 18....
The streets around the Delano Public Library have a different look. Road construction has started on both roads adjacent to the building, Railroad Ave. and 2nd St. The library remains open and ready to serve you. The parking lot across from the library is currently accessible, and there are signs for additional parking near the building. Our summer programs are going strong. Storytimes at Pierz Public Library are usually well attended, and today’s was no exception. Forty-six patrons of all ages listened as the library’s storytelling volunteer read books, did finger plays and sang songs accompanied by her ukulele. The theme was butterflies, and the group finished their time by making butterfly windsocks. Pierz offers storytime each Thursday at 10 a.m., June thru August.
Children had a great time learning about journals and creating their own in a program at the Little Falls Carnegie Library. Staff provided books for children to look through as well as samples of different kinds of journals (historical, nature, etc.). They also discussed the historical importance of journals such as the one kept by Holocaust victim Anne Frank, and journals from the American pioneer days which enable us to learn about life during those times. On June 28, Becker Public Library hosted its first Makerspace program. The program included the use of Snap Circuits. The circuits were a hit and the library was all a buzz! Snap Circuits make learning electronics easy and fun! Just follow the manual and build exciting projects, such as FM radios, digital voice recorders, AM radios, burglar alarms, doorbells, and much more. Smash books are a quick, easy way to capture life's moments and memories. You add photos, memorabilia and journaling and “smash” them into your book. In this workshop, you are introduced to smash books as you create your own and prepare them for use with an assortment of provided materials. Ages teen to adult. Limit 12. Registration required.
