Want to get crafty this winter? Sign up for one of these FREE upcoming craft events taught by the Minnesota Textile Center at libraries around the GRRL region. According to their website, textilecentermn.org, they are "a national center for fiber art." The Textile Center's "mission is to honor textile traditions, promote excellence and innovation, nurture appreciation, and inspire widespread participation in fiber art."

What to expect:

Working with authentic Sashiko thread, needle, and pre-designed fabric, learn the stitching process and a bit of its history and come away with a hand stitched coaster!

Craft - Kumihimo Bracelet: Kumihimo is a Japanese art form of braiding that was used to lace up protective armor. Now Kumihimo is used as an art form used to decorate just about anything. This intricate looking braid is surprisingly easy to master and ween you add beads, it creates the perfect accessory.

Craft - Needle Felted Patch: Learn how to needle felt and create painterly effects by blending colors of loose wool roving while working on a design of your own choosing. By using a barbed felting needle and coiling cord, you will create a uniquely shaped patch or brooch to wear!
