What if I damage or lose a library item?

Notify library staff as soon as possible if an item becomes damaged or is lost. Some damaged items may be mended, in which case charges may not be applied.

If the item is damaged beyond repair or lost, patrons are charged the cost of the item plus a $6 processing fee. Great River Regional Library does not accept replacement copies of items. However, if a lost item is later found, please return it to your local library and the cost of the item plus the processing fee may be refunded. Overdue fines, if any, will remain.

Please note: Items not returned or renewed after 45 days will be marked as “lost” and a bill will be sent. If the item is not returned and all late fees are not paid within the following 30 days, the account may be referred to a collection agency.
