Try It Yourself Kits

Test out a potential new hobby easily and without investing in equipment with the library's "Try It Yourself" kits. 

Each kit contains a how-to book and tools around a theme or topic. Our topics range from baseball to knitting to viewing the sky through a telescope. The checkout period is three weeks. Consumable items are not included (examples: baseball bat or clay).

Here are the 15 kits to choose from, along with what each includes:

• Baseball: 1 book, 1 baseball, 1 softball, and 2 baseball gloves.
• Birdwatching: 3 books, 2 sets of binoculars with instructions and 2 mobile phone brackets, 1 CD set, 1 birding journal, 1 anatomy sheet.
• Camping: 5 books.
• Clay: 1 book, 23-piece carving tool set, 11 piece cleaning tool set, 1 flexible polyblade, 1 acrylic clay roller, and 1 acrylic sheet backing board.
• Dungeons and Dragons (beginner): 1 game (5 pregenerated character sheets, 6 game dice, 64-page adventure book, 32-page rule book), cardboard, plastic, paper, color.
• Dungeons and Drags (intermediate): 4 books, 5 sets of blank character sheets, 7 game deice, cardboard, plastic, paper, color. 
• Frisbee golf: 1 book, 1 net, 1 umbrella base, 1 tripod stand, 3 discs, and 1 carrying bag.
• Jewelry: 1 book, 1 beading board with lid, and 13-piece jewelry making tool kit with zippered storage container.
• Knitting: 3 books, 2 DVDs, 4 knitting needles, 1 stitch counter, 1 stitch holder, 1 loom hook, 1 cable stitch holder, 3 plastic sewing needles, 8 stitch markers, 1 round knitting loom with instruction guide, 1 long knitting loom, 1 pair of scissors, and 1 knitting gauge ruler.
• Magic: 4 books, 1 magic set.
• Outdoor adventure: 6 books.
• Paper crafting: 1 book, 6 scissors, 1 corner punch tool, 1 circle punch tool, 2 trimmer blades, 1 mini scoring board and 1 paper trimmer.
• Rock hounding: 3 books, 1 laminated ID guide, 2 pairs of safety goggles, 1 collapsible bucket, 2 garden trowels, 1 rock pick hammer. 
• Telescope: 1 telescope (1 Orion StarBlast Altazimuth Reflector, 1 Orion EZ Finder II, 1 zoom eyepiece); black and teal plastic; round 20 gallon Rubbermaid container.
• Ukulele: 1 ukulele in black cloth case, 1 ukulele tuner, 2 books.
