Children's Events And Services

GRRL offers a wide range of events, materials, and services for the benefit of children.

Story Times and Events

GRRL libraries offer a variety of programs and events for Pre-K to 6th grade children to encourage literacy, love of reading, and the wide collection of materials your library has to offer. Some of these include family movie nights, 'baby bounce' lap programs for parents/caregivers and their little ones, craft programs to encourage creativity, 'Battle of the Books' events for grade schoolers, and themed programs on the most popular books among young readers.

These programs and story times are announced through our events calendar.

The library will make efforts to provide reasonable accommodations as necessary under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Please email karenp@grrl.lib.mn.us four weeks before the event to request a reasonable accommodation.

Animated Talking Picture Books

Show young children the joys of reading in a format they'll love! TumbleBooks is a collection of animated talking picture books now available through GRRL online. TumbleBooks takes existing picture books, add animation, sound, music and narration, and produces an electronic picture book kids can read or listen to from any computer -- at home or at the library.

Kids and parents will find high quality recordings of popular books, including classic fairy tales. The read-along stories combine large print with narration, so kids can see the text and listen as the highlighted sections are read aloud. New titles are being added all the time, so kids will never tire of visiting. TumbleBooks also includes a language learning section with a selection of books in Spanish and French, and enrichment activities to keep reading and learning fun.
