What We're Reading

It’s no surprise: library staff are readers.

Most of us have popular tastes and enjoy bestsellers as much an anyone. But we have access to other books, too. Lots of them. And it’s not uncommon for one of us to be lured by an interesting cover, crack it open and get hooked by a few well written paragraphs. That’s why, when we recently put together a list of staff favorites, we saw so much variety.

Take a look and you’ll find classics like The Scarlet Pimpernel by Emmuska Orczy and Emma by Jane Austen. There’s a surprisingly diverse selection of non-fiction titles, including both well-known (The Seven Daughters of Eve by Bryan Sykes, Salt: a World History by Mark Kurlansky) and some that are off the beaten track, like Over the Edge: Death in Grand Canyon by Michael P. Ghiglieri and Thomas M. Myers. You’ll also find well-reviewed contemporary fiction, like Bel Canto by Ann Patchett, and The Mulligan by Nathan Jorgenson.

We plan on updating the Staff Picks list because we read a lot and plan to have new titles to share. Discover the treasure of our collection by exploring the reading/listening/viewing lists at the library catalog under the New, Best & Fun tab. It's so much fun!
