The Eagle Bend branch of the Great River Regional Library hosted another entertaining and educational program on Thursday, Oct. 6, as part of the Legacy Program.
The program for preschoolers through fifth graders was called “Count Whackula’s Things That Go Bump in the Night,” and starred Count Whackula himself. He was aided by his lovely assistant Lynn Marie as he performed several magic tricks and told stories to the children.
Matilda, Harry Potter and The Vampire’s Vacation were among the titles of books that Count Whackula talked to the children about and recommended reading or having them read to them.
Count Whackula uses a blend of humor and audience participation to tell riveting stories about safe trick or treating and the joys of reading. The children who participated in the program all appeared to have enjoyed it especially being able to pet the rabbit after the show was over. Be sure to visit your local library for programs like this among other great reading programs for the whole family to enjoy.
