Celebrate Teen Read Week With A Great Teen Book: Oct. 17-23

Thousands of librarians, educators and teens will celebrate Teen Read Week Oct. 17 to 23. Not too many years ago teens were at a ‘difficult’ age where they had to read books for children or adults. Not any longer. The library now adds new teen books every week.

Check out the special Teen Read Week reading list on the library’s New, Best & Fun page: “Teen Read Week - Books with Beat @ Your GRRL Library.” You’ll find books about the supernatural, about love, fantasy, music and mystery. And that’s just the beginning. There’s Books With Bite, a teen vampire/werewolf list, and Looking Back, American Historical Teen Fiction.

Programming
Several of the region’s branch libraries have anime clubs that regularly sample the latest manga (Japan’s graphic novels). Many host fun teen programs, like the Pippi Page to Stage workshops on Oct. 16, Creating With Duct Tape at Monticello on Oct. 18, and Dark Tales of Mystery and Intrigue at Annandale on Oct. 20. Check the library’s Events page to find events close to you.

There’s always fun for teens at your library.
