4 Cool Ideas To Warm Your Winter Days

The winter blahs don't stand a chance if you keep your mind busy, engaged and entertained through the long, dark days of winter. Your library has lots of ideas, events and services to fuel the effort:

1. Join our Winter Reading Program: For every five books or audio-books you enjoy, you get a chance to win prizes.

2. Mark your calendar! Those Legacy fund programs are filling our schedule with free, fun and interesting concerts, theatre, classes and other adventures. Sign up for free tickets to see Daughters of Africa at the Paynesville High School Auditorium on Feb. 5, (and watch our Events calendar for more upcoming events).

3. Learn something new: We're offering a course in "Social Networking" (like Facebook and MySpace) for adults at the Paynesville Branch. Keep up with family and friends, share news and photos and other messages. It's not just for kids, and we'll show you how to sign up and join the fun. Register online.

4. January is National Hobby Month: Whether you're honing an existing hobby or learning about a new one, we've got books and DVDs to help you. Or, check out magazines such as Making Music (practice and playing tips for amateur/hobbyist musicians), Woodsmith (woodworking patterns and instructions) or Creative Knitting (patterns and tips), for inspiration.
