For thousands of years, people have been enjoying the physical and meditative benefits of yoga. However, most aren’t aware of the benefits practicing yoga can bring to children.
A recent article in Parent’s Magazine cited that when practicing yoga poses, children learn how to exercise, develop confidence, and concentrate better – and who doesn’t want that?
There are five key areas where kids benefit from the practice of yoga, and each improves their overall well-being.
- It enhances physical flexibility
- It refines balance and coordination
- It develops focus and concentration
- It boosts self-esteem and confidence
- It strengthens the mind/body connection
Keeping all of this in mind, the Becker Public Library will be hosting a Yoga Storytime on Tuesday, April 23, 10:30-11 a.m. for children ages 3-6. We’ll sing, read, move, and be still. Please wear comfortable clothing. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate.
Registration required. Call the Becker Public Library at 763-261-4454 or register online at www.griver.org.
