Balloons fill the desk at the Albany Library as numbers for this year's Summer Reading Program are up, up, up. The Albany staff has been amazed and delighted by this year's turnout. Kids have been coming in each week to play Who Am I? and get their names in the drawing for a DQ certificate and turn in their clocks for the weekly drawing. All kids who finish two reading records (the green and the yellow) will get a certificate for completing the program and a free book. They can keep reading and turn in their white reading records for a chance to pick a prize from the traveling suitcase.
Teens have been turning in their reading records also and thanks to Albany Dairy Queen and Friends of the Albany Library they are also winning DQ certificates and weekly prizes. All reading records and hours clocks have to be turned in by Aug. 13 to qualify for the last weekly drawing and the grand prize drawings.
