If you're in need of copies, whether in color or black and white, the Staples Public Library has you covered. We recently acquired a new color copy machine. Copies can be made in Color for .50 or Black/White for .10. The machine includes a USB drive, so copies can be scanned and added or printed from the drive. Stop in and let us help you with your printing needs!  
Great River Regional Library has announced three lucky winners in the prize drawing held for Library Card Sign-Up month. Each has received an iPad mini purchased for the drawing by the St. Cloud Friends of the Library. The winners are Corissa Johnson at the Becker Public Library, Alissa Tesmer at the Delano Public Library, and Sandra Rohloff at the Staples Public Library. 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program has openings in Staples. The Staples Public Library has openings in its 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. The goal of the program is to have parents read to their children from the time they are born until they begin school and beyond. Parents begin by signing their child up for the program. They will receive a folder for tracking books read and a free book bag. When the child reaches the 1,000 book mark they graduate from the program and...
The Staples Public Library held its monthly "Reading Roundhouse" Storytime on Saturday, Sept. 14 with fun animal stories. Join us for our next storytime held on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. Also check out our new "We Play Here" kits at the library. Each kit contains a selection of educational toys based on one of the five early literacy practices of the Every Child Ready to Read initiative: Talking, Singing, Reading, Writing and Playing. The Staples Public Library held a two-day music camp as part of the Summer Reading Program, Read to the Rhythm. Children at the music camp each made various musical instruments and talked about how different materials made different sounds. On the second day of the camp Library Assistant Joseph LaVoie played the keyboard as the kids played along with the musical instruments they made. Twenty-eight children were shaking and whistling to the music of "The Wheels on the Bus" and "Let it go."
Library Assistant Angie Johnson led a storytime program at the Staples Public Library on Saturday, Jan. 10. The theme was snow, so the group read stories all about snow and made paper snowflakes. Join us for our next storytime on Monday, Feb. 9 at 10:30 a.m. Please call 218-894-1401 to register.
Z Juggling Rosenschnoz program was held at Lincoln Park in Staples as part of Railroad Days festivities. Children and their families enjoyed the juggling and magic tricks on a Sunday afternoon in the park. This program was sponsored through the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage funds and the Staples Motley Area Arts Council.
Our recent "Smokey Bear" Storytime was well attended by the Adventures group and other young patrons in Staples. Jason (from the Department of Natural Resources) read the Smokey Bear Big Book and shared fire safety tips. We were honored to have a guest appearance by Smokey Bear himself. Join us next month for the Preschool Storytime on Friday, Aug. 8 from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. before our open hours. The program will include stories, a craft activity and a treat. The Friends of the Staples Public Library have purchased a children's coat rack for young patrons at the Staples Public Library. When entering the library the coat rack is located on your left. Immediately behind it are illustrations and text from the classic story of "The Little Engine That Could." Thanks to the Friends for their generosity!
