The St. Michael Public Library is gearing up for the Summer Reading Program (SRP) and this year's science theme: "Experiment With Reading!" Our crazy mad scientist display was created by one of our clever volunteers, Judith Stodieck. The 3-dimensional bulletin board shows our mad scientist in her lab surrounded by many of the upcoming events sure to entertain library goers of all ages. The display will rotate the events so all library visitors will be able to see the next event of the SRP....
The St. Michael branch of Wells Fargo Bank has donated one of their large stuffed ponies to the St. Michael Public Library. Sheena Nelson, store manager for the Wells Fargo Branch stopped by the library on Monday, April 7 to drop off the new addition. The Wells Fargo branch gets one large stuffed pony a year they can donate, and this year, the library was the lucky recipient. The pony needs a name, so the library will have a "Name Our Pony" contest to help decide what may best fit the large...
Taurus, the Standard Schnauzer, will listen to your stories in a private, safe setting at the St. Michael Public Library on Saturday, February 15, from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. Dogs make great listeners and are patient when you are just learning to read. Call to sign up for a 15-minute session. The Reading Education Assistance Dog (R.E.A.D.) program provides an anxiety-free environment where kids read out loud to specially trained dogs. Limited to children in grades K-3.
The last preschool-toddler storytime of the year just took place in St. Michael. It was a special combined class in which holiday stories like "Mr. Willoby's Christmas Tree" and "Pete the Cat Saves Christmas" were read, and kids shook jingle bells to the song of the same name. They then made Santa masks from paper plates and provided great photo ops for the parents and caregivers who attended. Approaching the end of October for many means the Tricks and Treats of Halloween. For the Friends of the St. Michael Public Library, it means the annual Fall Book Sale has arrived. The always successful fall sale was held on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Library receives donations from the community, and volunteers begin the sorting process as soon as the donations begin to come in. The St. Michael Public Library was host to two sessions of Library Camp held July 22 and 23. Night Light Story Time kicked off its first evening of stories on Thursday, Jan. 31 at the St. Michael Public Library. Volunteer reader Joyce Nelson donned her robe and slippers, and the kids were encouraged to bring their blankets and wear their pajamas to enjoy some night time stories.
