Great River Regional Library is changing open hours at St. Michael and five other locations for 2013. The five other branches are Albany, Howard Lake, Kimball, Long Prairie and Swanville. St. Michael's new hours are: Monday: 10-8 Tuesday: 10-6 (change from 12-6) Wednesday: 10-8 Thursday: 1-8 (change from 2-8) Friday: 12-5 Saturday: 10-1
Santa's workshop might be a bit busier than normal right now, but there were 20 elves working hard on their Make & Take gifts at St. Michael Library on Thursday night, Dec. 20. Participants had the opportunity to make three different gifts to give to parents, grandparents or siblings. Branch Assistant Jill Mertes and Library Aide Michelle Camp assisted the elves in their gift making.
Preschool Story Time in St. Michael will be taking a 1-month hiatus in December. Beginning Jan. 7, 2013, Preschool Story Time for children ages 3-5 will shift to alternating Mondays with Toddler Time (for ages 18 months to 3 years). The new Preschool Story Time will now have stories, activities and usually a craft and a snack that go along with a pre-selected theme. Participants in the library’s Summer Reading Program were eligible for a Blue Ribbon Reader prize drawing. But first they had to write a short essay on why they love reading. A group of about 15 children and numerous parents attended a Leap Into Reading Storytime at the St. Michael Public Library on Wednesday, May 30. They all listened attentively while volunteer Joyce Nelson read several books to the group including Jump, Frog, Jump! by Robert Kalan, Leap Back Home To Me by Lauren Thompson, and Froggy Builds A Tree House by Jonathan London.
