Catch him if you can; "The Gingerbread Man" was the theme for Fall Storytime at the Pierz Public Library. Once a month, during the school year, the Pierz Library holds a storytime, complete with songs, rhymes, crafts and a snack. This month, the children enjoyed helping Leora, the storytime volunteer, tell the story of the Gingerbread Man on the felt board. Everyone took home a gingerbread man and enjoyed some gingersnap cookies!

Bookworms, it could just be your lucky day … but you won’t know it unless you visit the Pierz Library. Lucky Day is a new Great River Regional Library program meant to give library users immediate access to some of the newest and most popular titles… without having to wait. Every Thursday morning at 10 a.m., the Pierz Public Library hosts a summer storytime, and this week, the theme was "art," We begin the program with several stories, songs and rhymes before wrapping up with a craft. This week, we took our talents to the sidewalk outside the library. The kids drew a wide variety of art and enjoyed a popsicle. Summer storytime in Pierz runs through August 24, 2017. Registration is not required. Come and join in the fun this summer!

Storytimes at Pierz Public Library are usually well attended, and today’s was no exception. Forty-six patrons of all ages listened as the library’s storytelling volunteer read books, did finger plays and sang songs accompanied by her ukulele. The theme was butterflies, and the group finished their time by making butterfly windsocks. Pierz offers storytime each Thursday at 10 a.m., June thru August.

April is National Poetry Month. For the third annual year the Pierz Public Library will celebrate National Poetry Month by requesting teens to submit original poems. Poems will be displayed in the library without identifying names. A qualified local community member will judge the poems for originality, and one lucky winner will receive a gift card for a local business of their choice from the Friends of the Pierz Public Library. A patron of the Pierz Public Library has shared a portion of their personal Elvis Presley memorabilia collection for public viewing at the library. Elvis was born Jan. 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi and would have celebrated his 80th birthday this year.
