Okee Dokee Brothers Receive Grammy Award

The Okee Dokee Brothers, previously a little-known duo based in Minneapolis, captured the 2013 Grammy for best children's recording Sunday, Feb. 10 for their album "Can You Canoe?" The songs on the album were based on a month-long trip the duo took paddling down the Mississippi River. Joe Mailander (left) and Justin Lansing are childhood friends from Denver who moved to the Twin Cities in 2007. The Okee Dokee Brothers were the Summer Reading Program kick-off performers for Great River Regional Library in 2012. They performed their music at every GRRL library last summer. Their visit to the Royalton branch was well received by all who attended. The CD "Can You Canoe?" is available for checkout from GRRL.
