The St. Cloud Public library is pleased to announce we will be hosting the Mixed Blood Theater's production of Hijab Tube on Thursday, April 9 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Children's Programming Room. Attendance is free and open to everyone.
In Hijab Tube, a college-age Muslim woman takes her questions about wearing a hijab to YouTube, drawing an illuminating range of responses from other American Muslims. Sometimes charmingly humorous and sometimes disarmingly blunt in its challenge of misguided assumptions, it offers a fresh perspective on Islamic culture in 21st Century America. Most importantly, it is a stereotype-shattering look at an important thread in our modern cultural fabric. It is affirming for some, eye-opening for others, and entertaining for everyone.
