It's that time of the year again to stock up on great bargains at the Long Prairie Friends of the Library Used Book Sale! The book sale will be held at the Pet Vet (right across the street from the library) and will take place during Prairie Fest. The wonderful Friends have added an extra day to the sale, so make sure you include the book sale in your Prairie Fest plans. On Tuesday, May 1, the Long Prairie Public Library invites you to join a community-wide event and create unique paper cranes to help promote peace and hope in our world. The goal is to make a million cranes! Inspired by the novel Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Eleanor Coerr, this project encourages people to focus on the ideals of hope and peace and to strengthen the bonds of community. Former Branch Assistant Nancy Potter has been promoted and is now the Branch Manager of the Long Prairie Public Library. She replaces Linda Mueller who transferred to Royalton Public Library, another library in the Great River Regional Library system. Potter worked at the library as a Branch Assistant for almost four years. Prior to that, she had been working as a local journalist.
