"Stolen Years" is the title of a book by Darrel Day that tells the story of Connie (Sarff) Nelson, a Long Prairie resident who was abducted by her estranged husband. She was taken from her apartment by him and driven, naked and unconscious to Mexico, where she remained his prisoner for 15 days. Connie will tell her story of a lifetime of domestic violence and the eventual trial that finally put her husband behind bars. If you're looking for something fun to do this summer, look no farther than the Long Prairie Public Library. We have three exciting art programs happening for all ages -- from school-age to adults. On Monday, July 14, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Lisa Arnold will teach students how to make mosaics using stained glass and ceramic tile. Each participant will create a small mosaic to take home and will also collaborate on a big community mosaic to be displayed at the library. For ages 8 to adult....
Stop by the Friends of the Library Used Book Sale and stock up on lots of good summer reading! The 2-day book sale will be Friday, June 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, June 21, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The sale will be held across the street from the library at The Pet Vet garage. Donations of books and movies are accepted year-round. All proceeds benefit the Long Prairie Public Library.
