Library News: Little Falls

Outside, the weather was hot and sweltering, but inside the Little Falls Carnegie Library patrons were having a cool, fun time. Thursday, July 21 was movie night at the library, and a crowd of 39 individuals enjoyed Disney's "Zootopia." Movie Nights are sponsored by the Friends of the Little Falls library who provide the sound video equipment as well as movie theater style, fresh, kettle-popped corn. The next and final Movie Night of the summer in Little Falls will be Thursday, Aug. 18....
Children had a great time learning about journals and creating their own in a program at the Little Falls Carnegie Library. Staff provided books for children to look through as well as samples of different kinds of journals (historical, nature, etc.). They also discussed the historical importance of journals such as the one kept by Holocaust victim Anne Frank, and journals from the American pioneer days which enable us to learn about life during those times. The Teen Poetry Contest at the Little Falls Public Library had 70 entries this year! That’s the most since the annual contest began in 2009. As well as local entries, some came from Royalton, where a teacher assigned students to write a poem for class and told them about the contest! All the poems were posted for the public to see, and three were chosen as winners. (One asked to remain anonymous.)
The Little Falls Carnegie Library will present a computer class, "Introduction to the Internet", on Wednesday, April 9, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. It will be held at the library, which is located at 108 Third Street NE. The class is for adults with little computer experience. It will cover how to get an e-mail account, using a search engine, and a brief look at some interesting and fun websites, including the Great River Regional Library home page. The Ramona Trio will perform on Thursday, Dec. 20 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Little Falls Carnegie Library. The Ramona Trio is a performing string trio from the St. Francis Music Center in Little Falls.
