Library News: Little Falls

The Little Falls Carnegie Library is hosting Ojibwe author Linda LeGrande Grover on Tuesday, September 17, 2019.   The staff wanted to create an eye-catching display to promote the event.  Laura Hansen and Julia Mueller called on the assistance of local historic sites. Author Candace Simar will appear at the Little Falls Carnegie Library on Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. She is an award-winning poet and writer from Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, who carries a passion for Minnesota history. Her historical Abercrombie Trail series (North Star Press), recounts the story of Scandinavian immigrants during the 1862 Sioux Uprising. Outside, the weather was hot and sweltering, but inside the Little Falls Carnegie Library patrons were having a cool, fun time. Thursday, July 21 was movie night at the library, and a crowd of 39 individuals enjoyed Disney's "Zootopia." Movie Nights are sponsored by the Friends of the Little Falls library who provide the sound video equipment as well as movie theater style, fresh, kettle-popped corn. Children had a great time learning about journals and creating their own in a program at the Little Falls Carnegie Library. Staff provided books for children to look through as well as samples of different kinds of journals (historical, nature, etc.). They also discussed the historical importance of journals such as the one kept by Holocaust victim Anne Frank, and journals from the American pioneer days which enable us to learn about life during those times.
