The Howard Lake City Council recognized the Howard Lake Friends of the Library for its fundraising and volunteer efforts by proclaiming Oct. 18- 24 to be "Howard Lake Friends of the Library Week." Author Barbara Sommer gave an author talk at the Howard Lake Public Library on July 15. The Howard Lake Public Library is adjusting its open hours effective June 8, 2009. The new hours will be: Monday 2-8 Tuesday 1-6 Wednesday 2-8 Thursday 10-6 Friday 3-6 Saturday 10-1 The new hours were determined by a process that included a local survey. The main change is that the library is open more hours on Thursday and fewer on Friday. The goal of the change is improved public service and efficiency of operations.
