Festive Events

Our libraries are starting to feel festive! We are ready for the holiday season and there are so many different ways to get involved and have fun this season at the library!

Looking for some FREE festive events? Crafts? Author visits? GRRL has you covered!

Here are just a few of the fun upcoming events happening across our region:

  • "Ornament Making for Wright County Festival of Trees" -- Make a hand-crafted paper ornament using book pages to decorate a tree at the Wright County Historical Society's Festival of Trees! Visit the Kimball Library during open hours from Friday, Nov. 1st through Tuesday, Nov. 12th.

  • "Holiday Favorites Recipe Swap" -- Looking for some fresh ideas this holidays season? Are you willing to share a family favorite? Bring in a recipe for a favorite side or sweet; copies will be made at the Foley library. Recipes will be available for pickup during the time of the display. All November and December in the Foley Library.

  • "I'll Be Gnome for the Holidays!" -- Get your holiday crafting in full gear! We'll be making holiday gnomes out of fuzzy socks and other dollar store finds. All materials provided. Register online to participate in this fun holiday crafty event happening on November 9th at the Cold Spring Library!

  • "Holiday CardMaking" -- Join Jan Gerth to make holiday cards that can be used for the local card drive for veterans or for personal use. Register online to participate in this fun holiday crafty event happening on November 12th at the Upsala Public Library.

  • "Turkey Bingo / Craft" -- Win prizes playing bingo and make a fun craft to decorate your Thanksgiving table. Register online for this fun festive event happening on November 14th at the Big Lake Public Library.

  • "Bottle Brush Trees" -- Join us for this fun workshop as we turn sisal fibers and wire into old-fashioned mini “bottle brush” trees. Please bring a pair of scissors (not your good fabric shears!) and a metal comb to “brush” your tree. Makes great gifts for the upcoming season! Register online for this festive crafty event happening on November 20th at the Waite Park Library.

  • "Holiday Gingerbread Houses" -- Create your own gingerbread house on December 2nd! We have all the supplies for you. Register by calling the Big Lake Public Library.

  • "Holiday Storytime - Hanukkah!" -- Join guest reader Brandi to learn about the holiday of Hanukkah! We'll play a game, read stories, and make a Hanukkah-themed craft. For families. Register online for this festive event happening on December 3rd at the Richmond Public Library.

  • "Saturday with Santa" -- Spend your Saturday with Santa at the Library. He’s jolly and ready to listen to your holiday wishes and to pose for pictures. Join us for cookies and cider too! No registration is required for this fun event happening on December 7th at the Monticello Public Library.

  • "16-Point German Star Ornament" -- A beautiful, piece to put on your tree to amaze your friends with your folding skills. This is an Old World ornament that is dipped in wax to preserve it. Tamra will have plenty of glitter on hand too! Register online for this festive event happening on December 16th at the Delano Public Library.

  • "Holiday Storytime - Kwanzaa!" -- Join guest reader Tamra to learn about the holiday of Kwanzaa! We'll do activities, read stories, and make a Kwanzaa-themed craft. Register online for this festive event happening on December 17th at the Richmond Public Library. 

  • "Andrew Walesch Presents Holiday Classics" -- Singer and pianist Andrew Walesch will tour the library region and provide many memorable evenings of holiday favorites and jazz standards from the Great American Songbook. The tour is happening in November and December, made possible by Minnesota's Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.
