A packed room at the Elk River Public Library recently enjoyed a ballet preview version of "The Nutcracker" performed by the North Ballet Youth Company. The Nutcracker Ballet is a growing holiday tradition in Elk River, and this is the second year it has been performed at the library. The Elk River Public River recently presented a program titled World Of Music at the Library. It featured performers Leo and Kathy Lara. They are a husband and wife team who have been active as performers and educators within the Midwest since 1979. Local trio Knotted Clover entertained their audience in a recent concert at the Elk River Public Library. The trio is composed of two teens and their father. They play traditional folk songs and music from Ireland on a variety of instruments including mandolin, guitar, fiddle and harp. Staff and patrons praised their performance. Hopper was the center of attention at a special Elk River story time on Monday, Sept. 17. Hopper the big reading frog has been traveling around Great River Regional Library locations, helping young children get the message that reading is fun at Leap Into Reading events.
