Here come the new grads! Elk River recently honored a group of their precocious readers with a 1000 Books before Kindergarten Graduation ceremony. The event included assistance from Elk River library board member and Friends of the Library volunteer Mary K, who read a story to the kids and helped present caps and gowns. A packed room at the Elk River Public Library recently enjoyed a ballet preview version of "The Nutcracker" performed by the North Ballet Youth Company. The Nutcracker Ballet is a growing holiday tradition in Elk River, and this is the second year it has been performed at the library. The Elk River Public River recently presented a program titled World Of Music at the Library. It featured performers Leo and Kathy Lara. They are a husband and wife team who have been active as performers and educators within the Midwest since 1979. Local trio Knotted Clover entertained their audience in a recent concert at the Elk River Public Library. The trio is composed of two teens and their father. They play traditional folk songs and music from Ireland on a variety of instruments including mandolin, guitar, fiddle and harp. Staff and patrons praised their performance.
