Dia de los Ninos/ Dia de los Libros - Day of the Child/ Day of the Book will be celebrated at the Monticello Public Library on Saturday, April 27, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This annual celebration of children and literacy evolved from the first World Conference for the Well-Being of Children in August 1925, when various countries chose dates for celebrating children and childhood. Since 1925 Dia de los Ninos, or the Day of the Child, has grown as an annual celebration throughout Mexico. This day recognizes children, pays homage to their importance in society, and endorses their well-being. The first annual Dia de los Ninos program was held in 1997. Join us for this fun filled family day celebrating children and books. Featuring face painting and balloon creations for all children as well as crafts and a pinata! Everyone is invited to stop by the Library between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
