Jessica Meyer is on the second phase of earning her Gold Award for Girl Scouts. She is painting a mural in the children's area at the Delano Library. The mural, which will surround the entire children's room, features characters from favorite books. She surveyed children, friends and adults to generate her ideas. Children learned how to create art in a garden during the Whimsical Fairy Garden class at the Delano Library. Participants chose several colorful plants and flowers to put in their garden. They planted and then embellished their gardens with shells, rocks, buttons and other personal treasures. Sixth grade students from the Delano Middle School took advantage of the recent nice weather to attend a Book Tasting at the Delano Library. Each student chose their favorite book for the year and drew a story board to use in a presentation. The goal was to convince classmates to read the book they chose.
