The streets around the Delano Public Library have a different look. Road construction has started on both roads adjacent to the building, Railroad Ave. and 2nd St. The library remains open and ready to serve you. The Reptile and Amphibian Discovery Zoo based in Owatonna visited the Delano library on Tuesday, June 30. The Radzoo brought a wonderful variety of animals including an albino boa constrictor. Other stars of the show included an American alligator, a tree frog, tortoise, snapping turtle and a variety of snakes. Children greeted each one with gasps of wonder and amazement. Join intern Master Gardener Joyce Passananti (in bee costume) as she teaches about the "Plight of the Bee" at Delano Public Library on Tuesday, May 19 from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. Learn why we have fewer bees, how they help us, and how we can help them. To kick off the Photo Exhibit at the Delano Public Library, local photographer John Peterson shared his 50 year journey in photography on Tuesday, March 2. He displayed the cameras he has used during his career, pointing out his Crown Graphic sheet film camera (World War II era) that he used taking wedding pictures to pay his way through college. Delano teens enjoyed designing unique art pieces using a variety of industrial materials including metal, wire gears, keys and clock-faces with a Victorian flair. Join us Tuesday, Feb. 10 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. for String It Up - an art class. Create an original wall hanging using hammers, nails, and colorful string. Professor Marvel propelled Delano teens back in time during a fast-paced magic show that highlighted the history of steampunk, originally started by H.G. Wells in his novel "The Time Machine." Teens enjoyed a unique blend of mechanical wizardry and Victorian futurism in the show, which featured illusions based on time travel and even some physics.
