September is national Library Card Sign-Up Month, and this year Cold Spring Public Library was able to make its celebration extra special. The Cold Spring Lions donated a “school supplies cake” to the library to give away as a prize to a lucky patron who used their library card during September. More than 30 children and ten adults attended the Leap Into Reading storytime at the Cold Spring Public Library on July 11. The library was packed. Storytimes usually take place in a designated meeting room, but the library is in a building that houses City of Cold Spring offices, and other city employees were meeting. Following the Mixed Blood Theatre's inspiring and thought-provoking performance of "Daughters of Africa," the Cold Spring Public Library is very pleased to welcome back the theater troupe for their new production of “Hijab Tube.” This play is about a young Muslim woman who takes her questions about wearing a hijab to YouTube in this fascinating look at Islam in 21st century America.
