January and February will see several new programs with an artistic theme, and for those looking to add fitness to their routine, we have a new Yoga Storytime class. Also, the ongoing event of 1,000 books before Kindergarten continues in 2019. Library storytimes will also be happening Fridays in January and February from 10:30-11am. The weather outside may be frightful, but the events at your Big Lake Library are quite delightful! Coming up this December is the annual Holiday Gingerbread Houses. Bookworms, it could just be your lucky day … but you won’t know it unless you visit the Big Lake Library. Lucky Day is a new Great River Regional Library program meant to give library users immediate access to some of the newest and most popular titles… without having to wait. These new collections include 20 different books by popular authors like Dan Brown, James Patterson, Jan Karon, Robyn Carr, Vince Flynn and more. Hear ye, hear ye! There has been issued a royal decree that all maidens and sirs are hereby invited to Princess Storytime at the Big Lake Public Library! Midnight Ball Princess and her stepsisters will be in attendence to sing, play, and tell tales from the kingdom. Come to the library in your finest royal garb on Friday, July 21st at 10:30 a.m.!

The Big Lake Library was a lively spot on Thursday, June 22 as folks celebrated Spudfest! Attendees competed in a good old-fashioned cake walk, listened to the RSVP Readers Theatre and sang/danced to the sounds of the Flemming Fold. Time Change: Author Joel Karsten is coming to the Big Lake Public Library this coming Monday, April 13, to talk about about Straw Bale Gardening. This spring the Big Lake Public Library provided a new "Young Miss Tea" program for girls 10 to 15. Eight girls attended. They learned about skin care and gave themselves facials and received manicure sets and polish and gave themselves manicures. They also enjoyed tea and lunch. The library also recently held their annual Princess Tea which was attended by 20 local princesses. The group made princess diaries, crowns and Cinderella slippers before sitting down to tea and lunch.
