Library News: Big Lake

Hear ye, hear ye! There has been issued a royal decree that all maidens and sirs are hereby invited to Princess Storytime at the Big Lake Public Library! Midnight Ball Princess and her stepsisters will be in attendence to sing, play, and tell tales from the kingdom. Come to the library in your finest royal garb on Friday, July 21st at 10:30 a.m.!
The Big Lake Library was a lively spot on Thursday, June 22 as folks celebrated Spudfest! Attendees competed in a good old-fashioned cake walk, listened to the RSVP Readers Theatre and sang/danced to the sounds of the Flemming Fold. Thanks to everyone who came out and made the celebration a success. 
Time Change: Author Joel Karsten is coming to the Big Lake Public Library this coming Monday, April 13, to talk about about Straw Bale Gardening. This spring the Big Lake Public Library provided a new "Young Miss Tea" program for girls 10 to 15. Eight girls attended. They learned about skin care and gave themselves facials and received manicure sets and polish and gave themselves manicures. They also enjoyed tea and lunch. The library also recently held their annual Princess Tea which was attended by 20 local princesses. The group made princess diaries, crowns and Cinderella slippers before sitting down to tea and lunch.
Hopper the frog made some new friends at the Big Lake Public Library's Leap Into Reading storytime on Friday, Sept. 28. Hopper is Great River Regional Library's Leap Into Reading mascot. He is visiting each of the library's 32 locations as they offer Leap Into Reading events throughout the year. Hopper the frog sat down at the Big Lake Public Library recently with Abby Miller and parents Jason and Tara to read The Lorax by Dr. Seuss. Jason submitted “Hopper” to Great River Regional Library’s Name that Frog contest on Abby’s behalf. Abby received her beautiful pop-up version of “The Lorax” after Hopper was chosen from more than 70 submissions. The book purchase was funded by the St. Cloud Friends of the Library.
