Artist Jen Anfinson will once again visit the Becker Public Library to help you imagine and create. This year's project will be recycled robots. Anfinson will help you design and construct your own robot using recycled materials such as tin cans, paper clips and the like. This program is for ages 5-12. Limit of 12 participants. Artist Gary Harbo will be at the Becker Public Library to teach a Beginning Manga class on Wednesday, Jan. 14. Gary has illustrated many books, such as "The Great Train Ride" and "The Northern Woods Adventure." This class is for ages 12 to 18, and it begins at 4:00 p.m. Registration is required. Are you interested in tracing your ancestry? Do you want to see where the members of your family started their journey? Becker Public Library is hosting a genealogy program presented by Ariel Kirst, a librarian from the St. Cloud Public Library. The Becker Public Library, with the help of local artist Alison Love Unzelman, is gearing up to start work on the next section of the Dewey Decimal System collaborative mural project displayed in the library. The ninth mural will focus on the numbers 900-999, covering the general topics of geography and history. The Becker Friends of the Library and Library Assistant Sherri Rasmussen are hosting a Make & Take craft day at the Becker Public Library on Monday, Dec. 1. Sherri will help kids ages 6 to 12 make holiday gingerbread houses using graham crackers and assorted candies. Decorating will start at 4:00 p.m. and end around 6:00 p.m. Sherri will have a short break in the middle of class and will read a winter story while the gingerbread houses harden and set for the candy decorating. The Becker Public Library is starting a Teen Book Club. The book club will meet Monday, Oct. 20 at 7:00 p.m. The selection for the first discussion is "Legend," a romantic thriller set in a post-apocalyptic world, written by Marie Lu. Storytime at the Becker Library will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 2 starting at 10:30 a.m. However, there are some new changes to the storytime schedule. Storytime, with stories, singing, and crafts will take place Sept. 2 and 16. Tuesdays, Sept. 9 and 30 will be sensory/game days with time being self-directed by the parents or caregivers.
