The Annandale Area Friends of the Library have donated $300 toward the purchase of “We Play Here” kits for use by young library visitors. GRRL is seeking $3,000 to buy twelve kits. These will be added to the twenty the library previously obtained through a Playful Learning In Libraries mini grant from the Minnesota Department of Education, State Library Services. The Mad Hatter hosted a grand tea party at the Annandale Public Library on Saturday, Jan. 23 to celebrate Alice’s 150th birthday. The White Rabbit, March Hare, Door Mouse and children ages 6-12 were invited to attend the party in Alice’s honor. Everyone came in either their favorite costume or tea attire. Patrons of the Annandale Public Library are hopeful they will win the MinneSNOWta prize basket. It is filled with wonderful Minnesota products, including syrup and honey produced right in Annandale. Annandale Friends of the Library provided the basket as additional incentive for patrons to take part in Great River Regional Library's annual winter reading program (WRP) which runs Jan. 2-Feb. 29. The Annandale Friends of the Library are currently collecting clean, gently used items for their annual book sale scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. All money raised from the sale is spent on the Annandale library programs and other library needs. Books, CDs, and DVDs can be dropped off through June 23 during library open hours. For six weeks starting Feb. 1, the Annandale Public Library will be participating in a statewide one-book program called Once Upon a Reader. At year’s end, a second stained glass window was installed in the children’s area of the Annandale Public Library.
